Go Bike! Strathclyde Cycle CampaignConnect2Sustrans has won lottery funding for its "Connect 2" project, which includes a scheme to "complete" the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Anderston and various links to Chatelherault and Strathclyde Country Parks in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse areas. For details, see the project's website at Connect2. The main element of the Glasgow project is to complete the unfinished bridge across the M8 motorway at Anderston, including new ramps to ground level at each end. Go Bike is supporting this project, which in Glasgow will connect Central Station, the National Cycle Network at Anderston Quay, Charing Cross and Kelvingrove Park. This includes a dedicated two-way cycle track along Waterloo Street, and connections with the Charing Cross and Anderston footbridges, which will be converted for cycle use. The project also links to an existing path to Skypark and the SECC, which we will be seeking to get upgraded to take fullest advantage of the benefits of this project. A number of other projects around the country form part of the Connect2 scheme, including links with country parks in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse areas. The fate of the project was decided in a television televote in December 2007. What a way to run a transport policy! Welcome to Britain.
