Cycle Rides and Events List

Meeting Point and Times

Meet at the pagoda at the north end of Bell's Bridge, Glasgow (Streetmap, OS map or aerial photo) unless otherwise stated, at 10am. Rides start at 10am all year round. Rides are generally around 30 miles, although winter rides are shorter. Often there is the option to return by train for a shorter ride. A lunch break is usually taken in a suitable pub or café en route.

Rides are usually on tarmac surfaces (road or path) and suitable for most types of bikes, e.g. tourer, racer, hybrid, mountain bike, but will occasionally feature sections of route on rougher paths - see ride descriptions for details. See Past Cycle Rides for a few example cycle ride routes, based on rides Go Bike has gone on in the past.

Please read this general information about the cycle rides.

Cycle Rides and Events for 2013

Rides organised by Go Bike except where stated.

May Weekend Ride 25 and 26 May 2013: Aberdeen to Inverness ** BOOK NOW! **
This will be the third in an annual series of rides taking us along the National Cycle Network Route 1. In 2011 and 2012 we covered the sections from Newcastle to Aberdeen. This year we continue northwards covering around 150 miles of varied terrain - through historic towns, along old railway lines, minor roads, fishing ports and along the scenic Moray coast.
It is planned to cover the route in just two days of roughly 75 miles each, which dictates a reasonable level of fitness and stamina - but a major benefit of splitting the trip into just two legs will be to enjoy a night's stay in the well-appointed Cullen Harbour Hostel. To facilitate an early start and a more leisurely trip home after the event, there are also options for an overnight stay in Aberdeen on the Friday night and Inverness on the Sunday night.
The ride will start outside Aberdeen railway station at 09.00 on Saturday 25th May – which is late enough to catch the first train of the day from either Inverness, Glasgow or Edinburgh if preferable to staying over Friday night in Aberdeen.
The basic cost of the event, including Saturday night accommodation (and breakfast) at Cullen hostel is £19.00. Optionally, you may also book accommodation in Aberdeen (Friday night - £28.00) and / or Inverness (Sunday night - £29.00) - which will be in either a youth hostel or a hotel.
Click here to book your place on the trip using either a credit card, debit card or PayPal – ensuring you select your preferred accommodation package from the drop down list. If unsure of which option to select at this stage, just book for Saturday night only and you can add Friday or Sunday night accommodation later, once your travel plans are firmed up.
Places on the trip are limited to 14, so book soon to avoid disappointment! Email weekend13@gobike.org with any queries.
