Meeting Point and Times

Meet at the pagoda at the north end of Bell's Bridge, Glasgow (Streetmap, OS map or aerial photo) unless otherwise stated, at 10am. Rides start at 10am all year round. Rides are generally around 30 miles, although winter rides are shorter. Often there is the option to return by train for a shorter ride. A lunch break is usually taken in a suitable pub or café en route.

Rides are usually on tarmac surfaces (road or path) and suitable for most types of bikes, e.g. tourer, racer, hybrid, mountain bike, but will occasionally feature sections of route on rougher paths - see ride descriptions for details.

Sunday 4 April 2010 - Hamilton & Crossford Circle
A circular tour of Lanarkshire parkland and countryside, starting from Hamilton, taking in the Dalzell Estate and Murdostoun Castle Estate on the way to Crossford. After lunch, return to Hamilton on country lanes via Stonehouse. There are some steps at a couple of locations on this route.
Catch 1024 train from Glasgow Central Low Level to Hamilton Central (Balloch to Motherwell train), meet Hamilton Central station at 1050.

Sunday 2 May 2010 - Finlaystone Estate & Lyle Hill
An alternative route to Greenock leaving NCN 75 at Paisley, to head on country lanes and some rougher tracks via Linwood Moss, Houston, Barscube and Langbank to the Finlaystone Estate. After lunch, continue to Greenock mainly via the waterfront to finish up with a climb to the top of Lyle Hill to take in the view. Return to Glasgow by train.

Sunday 6 June 2010 - Dams to Lochwinnoch
Leaving Glasgow via the Waulkmill Glen and Balgray Reservoirs, this route heads to Neilston before climbing over the Lochliboside Hills to Lochwinnoch. After lunch, return to Paisley and Glasgow via the somewhat flatter NCN 7 cycle path.

Sunday 20 June 2010 - Cycling Day at Chatelherault Country Park (organised by CTC)
Rides in the park, rides from the park, and a stall from Go Bike.
All day event at Chatelherault Country Park, near Hamilton.

Sunday 4 July 2010 - Killearn & the West Highland Way
Starting from Dumbarton, this ride takes the NCN 7 cycle route through Balloch Castle Country Park and on towards Killearn on minor roads. After lunch, return to Milngavie and Glasgow via part of the West Highland Way and the Kelvin Cycleway.
Catch 1022 train from Partick to Dumbarton Central (Motherwell to Balloch train), meet Dumbarton Central station at 1055.

Sunday 1 August 2010 - Whitelee Wind Farm
Heading south from Glasgow, through Rouken Glen Park and the village of Eaglesham to the visitors' centre and café at the Whitelee Wind Farm, on Eaglesham Moor. Return via the rest of the Eaglesham Moor Road and Newton Mearns.

Sunday 5 September 2010 - Drumpellier Country Park
Taking NCN 75 cycle route eastwards through Glasgow Green and along the River Clyde out of Glasgow and onwards to the edge of Coatbridge, then to Drumpellier Country Park. Return to Glasgow via the Strathkelvin Railway Path and the Forth & Clyde Canal from Kirkintilloch.
