Many thanks to Iona for keeping you up-to-date so well while I was off on a big tour of Kenya – four weeks without getting on a bike – and what news there was. A massive rethink on Byres Road! Didn’t we all do well! That’s the power of lots of us letting people know our views, so please keep writing and answering those surveys. Let’s hope Byres Road does become as peaceful as this earlier publicity picture suggests, but with those all important segregated cycle lanes.
Consultation for the up coming East City Way closes on Wednesday 10th of October so don’t miss out on putting forward your views. The East City Way will ultimately be a 7km fully bidirectional segregated cycle lane running from Mount Vernon up to the existing lane on London Road. We have been really pleased to see more safe segregated cycle lanes being proposed for Glasgow, and especially glad to see this now happening in the under provided for area of the east end. Plans for segregated cycle lanes always need our support and so if you have a couple of minutes, please fill out a really quick response here. At long last a little more cycling provision may be coming to the east of the city. Phase 1 for the design for the East City Way project has begun consulting online (here) and a public drop in session will be held this coming week on

Tricia, our incredible lead on consultations is away this month adventuring the world and reviewing actual zebras crossing, so this guest consultation digest comes to you from your consultations novice co-convenor, who continues to be amazed by the scale of Tricias task and how well she handles it. Glasgow City Council are taking the bold move to capitalise on recent road closures around George Square during the Glasgow 2018 events and are looking to potentially remove traffic permanently. GoBike are fully in support of this idea and would love to see George Square made a much friendlier, safer, quieter and less polluted place for people.
They have a survey here looking to gather opinions on this plan, and your input would be really appreciated – it only takes two minutes. Thanks for your assistance!

It’s been another quiet fortnight on the consultations front but we have a couple of interesting ones for you to respond to. These are the Scottish Government’s Deposit Return Scheme and a final push on Pavement Parking from Living Street.
