News just in on Friday from East Dunbartonshire Council:

“East Dunbartonshire Council is about to start working on a new Local Development Plan (LDP) for the area ? LDP 2. As a first step in this process, the Council’s ‘Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee’ is scheduled to consider the work programme and early engagement proposals at its meeting on Thursday 29th November 2018. You can view the associated officer’s report, which includes details of the proposed consultation, via the Council’s Committee Document facility (Report No: PNCA/162/18/AL) from approximately 5pm today (Friday 23 November 2018).

Subject to approval by the Committee, we will be commencing the consultation and engagement activities on Monday 3rd December 2018 for a period of 10 weeks. Further details will be available via the Council website (see link below) and distributed via our LDP newsletter, following the Committee meeting. Local Transport Strategy – Transport Options Report The East Dunbartonshire Local Transport Strategy is being refreshed and the first stage of this is the Transport Options Report. The Transport Options Report sets out preferred and alternative options for active travel, public transport, roads and parking. The report sets out options for the whole area and options specific to individual community areas. Following approval at the Council’s Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee, the Council is carrying out a period of consultation. The period of consultation will run parallel to the early engagement on the LDP (as above), so will start on Monday 3 December 2018 and finish on Monday 11 February 2019. The Transport Options Report and associated background reports will be available to download from the Council’s consultation page from Monday 3 December and will be available to view at Community Hubs and libraries. An online survey will also be available to allow key stakeholders including members of the public an opportunity to shape the future of transport in East Dunbartonshire. In addition, there will be a series of drop-in sessions held throughout the authority area.
