Consultation Digest Issue 42, 03 September 2019: We take the hump, in a tale of two cities

Two cities? That’s Glasgow where we have on one side the positivity of the Avenues, the Development Regeneration Frameworks and advance news of the latest developments for Byres Road, while in residential areas we have a more outdated and reactive response to speeding traffic and the storage of private cars. There are currently four new proposals for traffic calming using the only method the City Council appears to know, ie speed cushions and we have the Council’s defence of proposals for the storage of private vehicles on our public roads all militating against active travel. GoBike Call For Action Day 2019

The third annual GoBike Call For Action day will be taking place on Saturday the 31st of August, at the Heart of Scotstoun from 10:30 to 16:00.

This year we will be looking at mapping and the collection of data to help us campaign. Focusing on how we use to feedback to the council on consultations and encouraging money to be spent in areas that will give the greatest benefit to those on bikes. This will include looking at:

  • Strategic Cycle Routes
  • Local cycle routes, how to map
  • Key roads for maintenance and pot hole repair
  • Winter maintenance – key routes

Consultation Digest Issue 40, 06 August 2019

This Digest contains only one new consultation but it’s a big one, from Transport Scotland and there is a surprising amount of feedback, finishing with the excellent news that Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Community Council have been successful in gaining funding for their cycling village. The picture heading this Digest shows the proposed new bridge over the Clyde, see Item 3.11.
