Consultation Extra: South Lanarkshire Survey, closes 14 April, for all of you who live, work or travel in Cambuslang or Rutherglen

News in from Derek Y, one of our sources on what’s happening in South Lanarkshire:

Message from South Lanarkshire Council about consultation for Cambuslang/Rutherglen:

South Lanarkshire Council is currently undertaking a study to identify opportunities for increasing active travel journeys in Cambuslang and Rutherglen. SYSTRA, a specialist transport consultancy have been commissioned to undertake this study.

The study aims to identify the barriers (real and perceived) to more people cycling and walking, and to provide recommendations for how to encourage more people to travel actively for their everyday journeys in the area. The study’s recommendations will be used to support future applications for funding.

To inform the development of the recommendations, we are seeking the views of individuals who live, work or travel in the Cambuslang and Rutherglen area. I can advise that a survey is now available on the South Lanarkshire View website to collect information about how people travel in the area, and their attitudes toward active travel. The survey can be found by following the link below:

Please do not hesitate to feedback any views that you, or your constituents have, on what needs to be done to help more people choose active travel modes for journeys in Cambuslang and Rutherglen. I would also be grateful if you could share information about the study and associated survey to those who may be interested.

I trust that you will find this information useful.
Yours sincerely
On behalf of Stuart Laird, Traffic and Transportation Engineer

It’s quite easy to do and there’s a placecheck map, too – though it’s easy to add something in the wrong place! Should all my comments have been so negative?
